Welcome to the X-Desire Team's Geological Data Platform, a groundbreaking initiative designed during the NASA Apps Challenge. Our team comprises passionate individuals dedicated to making geological data easily accessible to geologists worldwide.
Our platform leverages data from the NASA CMR API and NASA's Earthdata Search API/websites to provide geologists with a comprehensive, interactive, and user-friendly tool for accessing and analyzing geological data. We have integrated these data sources into an interactive Google Map, offering various viewing modes such as satellite, terrain, and plain.
Granule refers to the individual files that make up a collection or dataset. These granules are the basic units of data that can be searched, accessed, and downloaded from the Earthdata Search platform. They represent specific subsets of the larger dataset, often corresponding to a specific geographical area and time period.
Interactive Map Our interactive Google Map offers various viewing modes, including satellite, terrain, and plain. This allows users to visualize geological data in the most suitable way for their specific needs.
Data Filters We have implemented filters that display granule data. A granule, in this context, is a particular chunk of earth on a specific topic, such as a volcano. These filters enable users to easily locate and explore data related to specific geological features of interest.
Detailed Information When a user clicks on a topic, they can see shapes on the map indicating the location of the geological activity. The platform also provides detailed information such as the location where the data was explored, the data center, coordinates, coordinate system, and the timestamp of data collection. This level of detail allows users to understand the context and source of the data.
Our vision is to facilitate the process of accessing and understanding geological data for geologists around the world. We believe that our platform provides a significant leap forward in making geological data more accessible and easier to understand.
By providing an intuitive interface and a wealth of information, we aim to empower geologists to make more informed decisions and contribute to advancements in the field of geology.
We invite you to explore our platform and experience the power of data-driven geological insights. Together, we can uncover the secrets of our planet's geology and contribute to a better understanding of our world.
